PLUS: OpenAI suffers major outage

Hi.

The most important tweet you’ll see all week, from the CEO of Scale AI.

We’re still early.

šŸ¤– Top Stories

šŸ‘€ Here’s what jobs ChatGPT thinks AI will kill off

I asked ChatGPT which jobs AI would impact.

Here’s what it gave me.

  • Data Entry Clerk

  • Telemarketer

  • Receptionist

  • Accountant

  • Driver

  • Assembly Line Worker

  • Customer Service Representative

  • Translator

  • Security Guard

  • Surgeon

Notably absent are ā€œnewsletter writersā€, so I can rest easy.

Thoughts?

Dang it, even the robots are asleep on the job.

Let’s categorize these.

Duh, AI will steamroll these jobs

These make total sense and we’ve already seen it happen. It’s a matter of time - one of these startups will execute well and command the market in the next 1-2 years.

Ehh…maybe eventually

If these change in the next 2-5 years, I could see them transitioning over to AI. Other technologies will need to adapt to meet the need.

Looooong way off

Large amount of time before AI meaningfully affects these markets. Perhaps used as an aid or in a country with less stringent laws. There’s just too much trust in humans in the current system.

Now, guess which are in these categories.

I’ll put my rankings at the bottom of this issue.

šŸš€ AI-powered video editing is a reality

AI brings meaningful improvements to creators.

Case in point: Capsule video.

It just raised another $4.75mm for its AI-powered online video editor.

What does AI-powered mean for a video editor?

It’s a ton of assists on the pst-production side. B-roll generation, speech-to-text, and AI summaries of transcripts.

So let’s say you have a concept for a video.

You can describe that concept along with your footage.

Capsule generates B-roll and fleshes out the entire video concept.

Or you could summarize a section as a title card using AI. No in-depth knowledge needed.

The thing is, 90% of Capsule’s revenue comes from not the AI product. Their B2B offering is their cash cow.

So, the goal is to capture the newbie creators who want to make content.

AI on-ramps to industries that before required a ton of work are the future.

😬 AI melts as ChatGPT has its first outage

Earth’s global productivity fell by 99% yesterday.

The reason? OpenAI had a massive global outage.

Since every single AI startup builds on OpenAI, and all their APIs are down, this is big.

The outage lasted about four hours and affected all OpenAI’s services.

Many said this was a sign to build on different services.

Others said this happens to services like AWS all the time.

How is this different from every company building on AWS?

For one, OpenAI has far fewer services. AWS segments their services so one outage usually doesn’t affect another.

For another, this is the first big outage that OpenAI has faced. There were a ton of people on Twitter complaining about it. Yet hardly any news articles.

When the Facebook crowd starts to complain about the OpenAI outage, we’ll have made it.
