🤯 Auto-GPT is as close to AGI as we’ve seen

Imagine a to-do list that completes itself.

Or a marketing campaign that runs itself from idea to launch.

Auto-GPT can do all those things.

The idea is simple; allow GPT-4 the ability to spawn its own “agents” that are also GPT-4 models. If I tell GPT to research a topic for a business plan, it’ll spawn another GPT-4 agent to read an article and provide a summary.

We don’t want to sound too excited, but…this is huge.

Instead of hand-holding ChatGPT through developing an app, you could just tell it to make one. It spawns the agents it needs to get the job done, and return a finished app.

This is a huge step towards literal AI coworkers.

Be prepared.

😬 Kidnappers faked a daughter’s voice using AI

Once again, we have to warn everyone. Deepfake scams are on the rise.

An Arizona mother almost got fooled by a phone call. Her “daughter” called her, crying, claiming that she was kidnapped.

Her kidnappers demanded ransom. They said she needed to go to a specific location to pick up her daughter. It all sounded so real.

And, of course, it wasn’t. Her daughter was fine - it was a deepfake of her voice.

You will hear a story about this every week for the rest of your life.

that’s why it is so, so important to be cautious with any voice over the phone. If you get a call from someone claiming to be your bank, hang up and call the bank directly. Establish a way to verify identity with your family and friends.

But most importantly, be skeptical of anything that’s trying to take advantage of you.

👀 Amazon launches a generative AI, with a catch

Amazon is letting developers try out its generative AI model through an AWS service called Bedrock.

Details are few.

We know that AWS Bedrock offers a few large-language models (LLMs), with offerings from Amazon, Anthropic, and Stabiliity AI.

Those models can act like Midjourney (generate images from text) or ChatGPT (generate text for a blog post or email), among others.

Now, pump the brakes; there’s no chatgpt.amazon.com you can go to.

This service is for developers who want to add AI features to their cool apps.

To be honest, Amazon doesn’t sound like the company to do a ChatGPT either. It would be more likely to see them improve Alexa than to have a demo like Bard or ChatGPT.

We’d love to be wrong, though.
