We keep seeing Apple pop up in AI news.
Itās never what we actually want to hear, though.
Maybe soon.

š¬ Apple sued to stop Baidu AI clones

Apple canāt even launch their own generative AI. And yet, they still have AI problems.
Baidu is suing them, claiming theyāre letting too many fake Baidu AI apps into the app store.
Some background. Baiduās ChatGPT has a cute name: ERNIE. That rolls off the tongye better than Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration.
It does NOT have an official app.
You canāt even access it without an invite-only code.
That means a LOT of fake ERNIE apps are popping up on the app store. A cursory glance at the app store reveals ChatGPT clones popping up every so often as well.
The fix, in our opinion? They need to make their own official apps.
Good thing theyāve started!
š Microsoft Edge has an AI image creator built in
If youāre in the market for a new web browser, now might be the time.
Microsoft Edge added generative AI via DALL-E right in the sidebar.
DALL-E, if you'll recall, is OpenAIās service for creating AI-generated photos.
Itās certainly not the leader in this area - startups like Leonardo and Midjourney are more robust - but itās free.
Building this right into Edgeās sidebar makes it way more convenient. Weāre fans.
Plus, we admit it; we use Microsoft Edge.
šŗšø Bidenās opinion on AI is not surprising
Artificial Intelligence has enormous potential to tackle some of our toughest challenges.
But we must address its risks.
That's why last year, we proposed an AI Bill of Rights to ensure that important protections for the American people are built into AI systems from the start.
ā President Biden (@POTUS)

US President Joe Biden said AI ācould beā a danger to society, but āit remains to be seen.ā
When pushed on the issue, he said ātech companies have a responsibility, in my view, to make sure their products are safe before making them public,ā
Sounds like not a lot of substance? We agree.
The biggest takeaway is that AI is a national security concern to pretty much any country.
The Biden administration already published an AI Bill of Rights that outlines what AI must do to work for the good of society.
But that is guidance, not policy.
Inevitably, there will be some major event that AI caused, or could have prevented. Then, some AI legislation will rush through to a vote.
We might soon find an answer to the question of how you effectively regulate AI.
