🎬 AI casts a shadow over the Hollywood writer’s strike

Okay, day one of filming Terminator 2 from the robot’s perspective. Action!
Look, if you’re not willing to stand in the picket line to protest AI taking your job, you’re not worried enough.
The Writer’s Guild of America is striking this week. The theme? Better pay in an era of streaming.
But the CGI elephant in the green room is how AI might take over the industry.
Hold your horses. We’re not expecting ChatGPT to accept the Academy Award next season. But ChatGPT could churn out rough drafts for scripts like there’s no tomorrow. Or, it could generate scripts in the style of certain directors.
To be clear, even the WGA isn’t totally against the idea of AI. They’re just concerned AI will, well, cheapen the industry, and their careers.
One thing’s certain: Hollywood isn’t the last industry that’ll go through these AI growing pains.
We’ll leave you with the words of Alan Alda, upon reading an AI-generated script:
“Why have a robot write a script and try to interpret human feelings when we already have studio executives who can do that?”

Slack finally caught up with the rest of tech. Announcing…Slack GPT.
No, it’s not a new AI. Well, sort of. We’ll explain.
Slack has three big AI features that all roll up into Slack GPT.
First off: you can add any AI you want right into Slack. Want to goof around using ChatGPT, in-app? Now you can.
You can also use Salesforce’s Einstein GPT to unlock AI-powered customer insights. Whew, sorry, we need a break. The back half of that sentence was SUPER corporate.
Lastly, and most unsurprisingly, they’ve got different ways for AI to help your messaging. If you’re staring down 60+ work messages because of that phone break, Slack GPT summarizes them for you. Plus, you can reword that message to your coworker, using AI.
We have to admit, we’re surprised Slack chose to integrate other chatbots rather than make their own. Guess it’s hard to make something better than ChatGPT these days. cough cough Google
Superhuman AI
Stop us if you’ve heard this one.
announces which can generate new text, summarize old text, and reword existing text. Using AI.
Well, we’ve got another one of those.
Superhuman is the company behind what is basically a fancy, bespoke email service. Every product manager in Silicon Valley is addicted to it.
It now has an AI assistant.
What can it do? We sort of spoiled it above.
Use Superhuman’s AI to summarize an email. You can even generate an email from a prompt. Or reword an email you’ve already written.
See what we mean? So many AIs these days just shorten, lengthen, or generate.
They’ve got one more trick though. It’s powered by ChatGPT. So you can use it for any prompt you’d ask ChatGPT.
Just like every company had to have a website eventually…every startup has to have an AI.
