This is just the beginning.
OpenAI is full-speed ahead with ChatGPT.
Their newest feature is mind-blowing.
They’ve got plugins now. What does that mean, you ask?
I watched a video where, with one prompt, a user
booked a restaurant reservation
calculated calories for a dinner, and
ordered ingredients for that dinner from Instacart.
All via ChatGPT.
Plugins mean OpenAI is opening up the next explosive developer platform.
This is their App Store moment.
Plugins are OpenAI’s way of opening up developer access to make tools for ChatGPT. Companies like Expedia, Opentable, and WolframAlpha already made their own versions. They're useful. Think of them as extensions of that service in the ChatGPT interface. Just like you have an Instacart app on your phone.
What’s just as big is OpenAI’s plugin that they developed.
Dubbed “browsing”, it’s like how Bing AI treats their ChatGPT. Ask OpenAI a question about Oscar awards winners, and it will search the web. It will show “2023 Oscars awards winners” as its search query, and return the result.
It can also perform actions on your behalf. Like theoretically booking that restaurant reservation.
It really, really feels like 2007 with the iPhone again.
🚀 Canvas makes an AI copilot for designers
Canva Magic.
Canva wants to use AI to take the busywork out of designing.
Like Github Copilot did for engineers. Or Harvey AI did for lawyers.
Seeing a pattern?
Canva Magic can generate new marketing materials, like social media ad campaigns, using AI.
They announced, I’m not kidding, 5 separate AI tools that start with “magic.”
They are:
Magic presentations - AI-generated presentations to cure blank page syndrome
Magic edit - Add objects into your brand assets seamlessly using generative AI
Magic erase - Remove objects from your photos using AI
Magic replace - Swap any object in and out of brand assets
Magic design - Upload any media, and Canva will create graphics for it, with AI-powered copy
That last one’s our favorite.
This update is titanic, and takes a lot of busywork out of design and marketing.
AI makes another job easier.
