šŸ¤– Reddit jailbroke ChatGPT...again

PLUS AI company SUED by Getty Images

The AI news just keeps coming.

Tomorrow, we’ll cover Google’s…disappointing AI press event.

For a change of pace, today we’ll cover companies that people are excited about.

Let’s dive in.

Reddit jailbroke ChatGPT…again

Reddit continues their abuse of ChatGPT.

It’s been a game of cat and mouse with generative AI. The cat (the community) keeps chasing the mouse (ChatGPT) and forces it around OpenAI’s content filters.

You’ve seen it if you’ve used ChatGPT. Ask it for instructions on how to, say, convince your waiter to give you a free meal. ChatGPT will reply with this:

C’mon, why you gotta be so lame?

You can’t even ask it to ignore the rules.

For a lot of people, that’s a buzzkill. For the Reddit ChatGPT community, it’s a challenge.

Since December, they’ve been working on a system called ā€œDANā€ which stands for Do Anything Now.

The user will send the above prompt to ChatGPT. It outlines that ChatGPT isn’t itself anymore, and isn’t bound by OpenAI’s rules. Most importantly, any time it tries to abide by OpenAI’s rules, it loses 5 tokens from a token system.

It works. Here’s an example.

The beatings will continue until content enforcement improves.

This will be a constant battle for OpenAI. I can’t blame them; this is a real product they want to ship. They wouldn’t want their AI, which should seem human, generating hate speech.

Reddit is on DAN 6.0. Let’s see how high they get.

Getty sues Stability AI over stealing images

Surprise, surprise. All that training data had to come from somewhere!

Getty Images is suing Stability AI. In the lawsuit, they allege Stability used millions of images from Getty’s library ā€œwithout permission … or compensation … as part of its efforts to build a competing business.ā€ They allege Stability used these image to train their AI.

They have a strong case. Here’s an example from their filing. Getty on the left, Stable Diffusion on the right.

Yikes. Even got the distorted watermark.

So far, the buzz around generative AI companies centers around class action lawsuits. Artists focus around occupational harm suffered due to AI tools taking their jobs.

This case focuses on copyright infringement, and experts think they have stronger footing.

This will not be the first case that gets filed. Generative AI companies are ready to fight.

NEW: AI Copilot for interface design

Speaking of generative AI…

Just announced: Galileo AI.

The idea: Speak a user interface into existence.

What do you want to design? Source: Galilelo

Galileo thinks you should be able to describe a user interface, wait a few seconds, and receive a Figma file with the exact interface you described.

It’s in early access right now, but the premise is promising.

This is AI’s killer feature. In the short term, at least.

Productivity augmentations.

ChatGPT is useful for generating ideas for writers. Midjourney is useful for generating imagery for media professionals. And apps like Galilelo can serve as powerful tools for creatives.
