All of a sudden, data became super valuable, didn’t it?
We’ll explain.

😬 Stack Overflow says pay up if you use our data for training an AI

The golden era of free data for training an AI is over.
Stack Overflow joined Reddit in announcing a simple rule.
Use our data to train your AI?
Pay up.
“Community platforms that fuel LLMs absolutely should be compensated for their contributions so that companies like us can reinvest back into our communities to continue to make them thrive,” Stack Overflow’s Chandrasekar says. “We're very supportive of Reddit’s approach.”
Meta, Google, and OpenAI all trained their large language models (LLMs) on Stack Overflow’s data. That’s why you get such rich answers when you ask OpenAI’s ChatGPT for a code snippet.
Now, with the explosion of generative AI, companies realize there’s a mountain of cash they’re missing out on.
Large companies will likely have no choice but to pay up.
🚀 Google’s got a plan for AI-generated ad campaigns

It’s this but WAY BETTER, okay?
Remain calm, advertisers.
Google has a plan for your search ads.
Act surprised...it involves AI.
In an internal presentation, Google pitched their newest feature: AI-generated ad campaigns.
It’s more than just copy. Supply Google with any images, video, or text for your ads. Google will remix this content into sophisticated ad campaigns rivaling any marketing agency.
At least, that’s their plan.
They haven’t announced this yet. The feature still has a problem with “hallucinations”, or making up content that isn’t correct.
It’s also eerily similar what Meta recently announced.
So, as always, we’re left wondering. If every company does this, what do marketers do with all this extra time?
How does the role of marketing change, when AI does the heavy lifting?
🤯 Open-source ChatGPT, but better.

Source: Stability AI
Stability AI is democratizing access to AI.
They started with Stable Diffusion, the most popular open-source AI-generated image service. Now, they’ve developed their own LLM (like ChatGPT). It’s called StableLM.
It’s ALSO free and open source.
The training set consists of data from PubMed, Wikipedia, and StackExchange.
Yes, that means it can code. It can also do all the typical things we’ve come to expect from ChatGPT, like write raps.
Open source makes the world go round.
Give it a try here.
